Bozeman, Mont., (September 24, 2021) — Oboz Footwear introduces the Black Folks Camp Too (BFCT) O-Fit Plus™ insole featuring the BFCT Unity Blaze. The aftermarket insole will be available at Oboz retail partners nationally, including Public Lands stores, starting October 1, as well as online at Obozfootwear.com. A portion of proceeds from the sales of the insoles will benefit BFCT’s Digital Education Initiative (DEI).

“The work that Black Folks Camp Too has been doing is so important for the outdoor community to help welcome in new hikers and campers of all backgrounds,” said Rich Hohne, Oboz Director of Brand + Consumer Experience. “We hope that through this collaboration we can elevate the awareness of this great organization and encourage more people to get outdoors.”

The BFCT + OBOZ O-Fit Insole Plus features the Unity Blaze in each heel cup with the text “Put a little soul in your step” in the left forefoot area.  The insole, designed to fit all types of footwear, is anatomically designed and maximizes stability and support with a medium arch and a deep cushioning heel cup. Two Poron® Comfort pods in the heel and forefoot provide superior shock absorption and rebound.

“Every time you put on your boots and see the Unity Blaze staring up at you, you know you are welcomed in the outdoors, and it serves as a reminder to welcome others,” said Earl B. Hunter, Jr, Black Folks Camp Too founder. “While that Unity Blaze may not be visible, those around you will know you are rocking it by how you are treating them and others.”

Black Folks Camp Too’s mission is to remove fear, add knowledge and invite “more” Black folks to camp, and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle with any and everyone. Its Unity Blaze acts as a symbol to “treat everyone, everywhere, equally.”

Oboz Footwear announced its partnership with North Carolina-based BFCT earlier this year in support of its mission to introduce and educate more Black folks, as well as other uninitiated campers and hikers, on the basics and joys of getting into the outdoors. As part of the partnership, Oboz is advising BFCT on the footwear segments of its Digital Education Initiative, while BFCT is assisting and advising Oboz with its Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work.

BFCT’s Digital Education Initiative includes a series of educational content designed to help more people get into the outdoors. The content covers basic tips for enjoying the outdoors as well as deeper commentary. Oboz’s Outreach and Training team is providing input on the importance of footwear and foot health while on the trail.

The BFCT + OBOZ O-Fit Insole Plus retails for $30.  For more details on the insoles, to find a local retailer, or purchase online, visit www.obozfootwear.com.

About Black Folks Camp Too

Black Folks Camp Too was founded in 2019 by Earl B. Hunter, Jr. Before founding Black Folks Camp Too, Earl was an experienced business leader across multiple industries and a leading sales executive in the RV Industry. In 2015, Earl embarked on a road trip around North America with his 7-year-old son, Dillon. Along their three-month journey, they explored the highlights of the continental US and Canada and visited 49 campgrounds! The journey was as eye-opening as it was adventurous—they saw only one other Black family during the entire trip. That disparity and the desire to share the camping experience and outdoor lifestyle with other Black folks drove Earl to found Black Folks Camp Too with a drive to remove fears, add knowledge, and invite “more” Black folks to camp, and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle with any and everybody.
